Lazio became the new leaders of Serie A after a convincing victory over Sassuolo this Tuesday. The match, which took place at the Mapei Stadium, was marked by goals from Kenneth Taylor and Tijjani Noslin, which were crucial for the Roman team to overtake Internazionale in the standings.
From the first moments of the game, Lazio demonstrated their intention to dominate. Just two minutes in, Kenneth Taylor received the ball inside the area and didn't hesitate, shooting with precision to open the scoring. However, the lead did not last long as Sassuolo's Kristian Thorstvedt equalized five minutes later, creating an electric atmosphere.
The first quarter of an hour was truly frantic. In just three minutes, Gustav Isaksen and Romano Floriani, the latter assisted by Taylor, gave Lazio a 3-1 lead. The situation became more complicated for Sassuolo in the 30th minute, when Thorstvedt was sent off with a straight red card for a foul on Mattia Zaccagni, leaving his team at a numerical disadvantage.
Sebastiano Esposito still managed to reduce the deficit to 2-3 in the 43rd minute, but Zaccagni, who had been the target of the foul, made it 4-2 in added time, taking Lazio into the break with a comfortable result.
The second half was equally intense. Zaccagni had the opportunity to double the lead from the penalty spot, but his shot was easily saved by Stefano Turati. Five minutes later, Tijjani Noslin made his name on the scoring list with a spectacular long-range strike, increasing the score to 5-2.
Lazio still had another penalty opportunity, but Davide Frattesi also missed. Noslin, determined, did not let himself be shaken and scored again, this time with a powerful shot from more than twenty meters, already totaling four goals this season, equaling his personal record at Lazio last year.
In the last thirty minutes, the score did not change, but Lazio celebrated the lead in Serie A, although they know that Internazionale can regain the position when facing Venezia on Wednesday. With this victory, Lazio appears to be a strong candidate for the title this season, and its fans can dream of great achievements.
What happens next
With this victory, Lazio are now in a strong position to maintain their lead in Serie A. The next challenge will be to ensure continued good performances and results, especially with increasing pressure from other teams also aspiring to the top of the standings.
