The Dutch Football Federation (KNVB) issued a statement strongly condemning the racist insults directed at national team players after their elimination from the 2026 World Cup.
In the Round of 32, the Netherlands drew 1-1 with Morocco and lost on penalties 3-2. In the decision, Justin Kluivert hit the post, Quinten Timber shot wide and Yassine Bounou saved Crysencio Summerville's shot.
In the text, the KNVB thanked the players, technical team and fans “for their dedication and dedication” throughout the tournament, highlighting that “football unites people, regardless of their origin or social status”. The federation regretted the reactions on social media, where “racist and discriminatory insults” appeared after the elimination, and reinforced that “there is no place for racism and discrimination in football, on the internet and in society”.
Meanwhile, it became known that Ronald Koeman will step down as coach of the Netherlands.
