Manchester City is approaching a deal worth around £85 million, with Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi at the top of the list to reinforce the midfield sector. According to the report in question, the English champions are actively exploring the signing of young talent, in an operation that is part of the midfield remodeling strategy for the coming seasons. The same source indicates that Davide Ancelotti, Lille coach, publicly acknowledged City's interest in the player.
Bouaddi, considered one of the emerging names in French football, has progressively gained space in Lille's first team, after standing out in the club's youth ranks. A midfielder with a modern profile, he combines aggressiveness in recovery with discretion in releasing the ball, characteristics that fit the dominant and possession model that City has presented in recent years. The player's potential and progression margin help explain the strong desire surrounding his pass.
This possible move comes in a context of management and rejuvenation of the brains of citizens, who have been looking for solutions to maintain the balance between immediate income and preparation for the future. Signing a midfielder with the ability to play in different areas of the field and grow within a squad full of stars is seen as a strategic priority.
The value mentioned — around £85 million — fits into the scale of the Manchester club's recent major operations and reflects not only the perceived quality of the player, but also the competition in the market for young promises with immediate impact. For now, there is no indication of total agreement between the clubs, with details such as the structure of the deal and possible bonuses for objectives remaining open.
On the French side, Lille has been careful in managing its assets, selling some of its best talents for large sums in recent years, without giving up on sporting competitiveness. If it progresses, Bouaddi's departure will force the Dogues to readjust the squad, but will bring an important financial injection.
In Manchester, the eventual arrival of the midfielder would add depth and new solutions to a demanding domestic and European calendar. So far, there is no official confirmation from the clubs, and the dossier remains under development. News is expected in the coming hours and days, as talks continue.
What happens next
With Manchester City's interest in Ayyoub Bouaddi growing, negotiations are expected to move quickly. Lille, in turn, will have to consider the proposal, given the player's potential and the pressure to maximize the value of his pass in the current market.
