McLeish makes first reinforcement with the arrival of Spaniard Ramos at Saints

St Mirren manager Craig McLeish has made his first signing of the summer, securing the arrival of Spanish midfielder Samuel Ramos from Paisley. The 25-year-old joins Smisa Stadium from Slovak club Zemplin Michalovce, where he scored eight goals in 32 games last season. Ramos has signed a contract until 2028, having been scouted by McLeish and new recruiter Gavin Miller.

He is only the third Spaniard to play for St Mirren, following former Barcelona captain Victor Munoz and midfielder Tonet. “Samuel Ramos is someone I’m really excited to bring in,” McLeish told the St Mirren website. "I discovered him several months ago, before I took on the role of interim coach. As soon as I took over as coach and Gavin [Miller] came in, I shared the information with him and we looked at the data, which was really good. I watched a lot of his games, talked to teammates and a former coach, so I did some good research. I think the fans will enjoy watching him play and appreciate the energy and passion with which he plays. I'm really excited and I hope he can be a great player for us."
