Main conclusions
- Report: De Zerbi wants a reunion at Tottenham with Kaoru.
- TeamTalk points to Kaoru Mitoma as a target for Tottenham, with the possibility of a reunion with Roberto De Zerbi gaining traction.
- Report: Roberto De Zerbi wants Spurs reunion with Premier League attacker.
Tottenham Hotspur is closely monitoring Kaoru Mitoma and the possibility of a reunion with Roberto De Zerbi is gaining traction, according to the TeamTalk portal. The Japanese winger from Brighton & Hove Albion appears as one of the names being analyzed by Spurs, in an operation that, if completed, would bring together player and coach who worked together successfully in the Premier League.
The connection between Mitoma and De Zerbi was marked by the period at Brighton, where the Japanese international established himself as one of the most unbalanced wingers in the English league. His one-on-one ability, acceleration in driving and reaching the area through diagonals from the left made him a key player in the Italian coach's offensive system. It is precisely this background and familiarity with De Zerbi's game ideas that, according to TeamTalk, puts Mitoma at the top of London's priorities.
For Tottenham, the addition of a profile like Mitoma's would represent more unpredictability and threat in the final third. The Japanese combines short dribbling, reading spaces and aggressiveness in definition, characteristics valued in the possession and high pressing models usually associated with De Zerbi's teams. Furthermore, the winger's versatility — comfortable on the wings, but also appearing inside — fits the need to find solutions that increase the rotation and competitiveness of the attack throughout a long and demanding season in the Premier League.
On Brighton's side, Mitoma has been one of the most valuable assets developed in recent years. The club from the south of England has built a reputation for excellence in identifying and valuing talent and, therefore, any approach for one of its figures will inevitably involve careful negotiations. For now, what exists is monitoring and interest, without TeamTalk mentioning formal proposals or numbers involved.
In the background is the potential reunion between coach and player. Previously consolidated relationships tend to accelerate adaptation processes and reduce risks when investing, especially in a context as competitive as English. Mitoma knows the tactical demands and intensity that De Zerbi asks of his wingers — coordinated pressure, well-defined width and aggressiveness in transitions —, ingredients that can make the impact immediate.
It is important to highlight that, at this stage, this is a scenario under development and reported by TeamTalk. The English market is dynamic, and competition for players with Mitoma's profile and performance is constant. Still, Tottenham's interest and the narrative of the reunion with De Zerbi give shape to a dossier that promises to highlight the latest transfers in the coming weeks.
What happens next
With Tottenham closely monitoring Mitoma's situation, it is expected that the club will intensify its negotiations in the coming weeks. The familiarity between Mitoma and De Zerbi could facilitate the player's adaptation to Tottenham's playing system, if the transfer goes through. Brighton, in turn, will have to consider their position, given that Mitoma is one of their most valuable assets in the Premier League.
