Stefano Colantuono believes Massimiliano Allegri is the right man for Napoli's bench. Speaking to Radio TuttoNapoli, the Italian coach commented on Allegri's imminent arrival at the Southern club, following the departure of Antonio Conte.
"I consider him the right man, yes. Just like Antonio Conte. They are two coaches that I know and value a lot, so I can only speak highly of them, not to please anyone, but because they both deserve it. With Conte's departure, Napoli could not choose a better profile. Allegri is a coach of the highest level, with an important CV and a career that speaks for itself", said Colantuono.
The coach continued to praise Allegri's competence and experience: "He is a very good and very competent coach. We are talking about someone who demonstrated his value in the important clubs he played for. He knows how to read games very well, he is probably one of the best in that aspect. That is his great quality: understanding the match, adapting it and intervening at the right moments."
Colantuono also rejected simplistic labels: "In Italy we tend to label coaches, but definitions like 'defensive' are worth what they're worth. Allegri is simply a prepared coach, who studies the opponent and knows how to put the team in a position to compete. That's why, in my opinion, Napoli made the best possible choice."
