Ismael Bennacer remains a Milan player after his loan at Dinamo Zagreb, but he is taking matters into his own hands to find a new club this summer. The Algerian international was a great investment when he joined Milan in 2019 for €17.2 million from Empoli. His career was at its peak when he suffered a serious knee injury in May 2023, from which he had difficulty fully recovering. Bennacer and Milan are seeking a permanent separation. After a loan to Olympique Marseille in February 2025 that was not converted into a permanent contract, he was loaned to Dinamo Zagreb in September 2025, when other markets had already closed. In the agreement, there was a purchase option of 10 million euros, which the Croatian club did not activate. Bennacer remains under contract with Milan until June 2027, but has no place in the new team assembled by coach Ruben Amorim. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano and MilanNews, the midfielder has decided to take matters into his own hands by signing with new agency Lian Sports Group. Both the player and Milan hope that he finds a new club willing to pay a transfer fee and, above all, to withdraw his salary from the club's accounts.
