Main conclusions
- Exciting start from the Nikolov brothers.
- Lube opened the pre-season with a 3-0 win against Cisterna Volley, in a friendly at PalaCiarapica.
- شروع جذاب برادران نابغه والیبال جهان.
Lube (Italy) made a convincing start to the pre-season by beating Cisterna Volley 3-0, in a friendly played at PalaCiarapica, in San Severino Marche, in front of around 600 spectators. The Italian runner-up needed three evenly matched scores — 25-22, 25-22 and 25-21 — to seal a clean victory in the first most demanding test, after an initial series of five preparation games against teams from Serie A2.
With Giampaolo Medei in technical command, Civitanova's team already showed good automatisms and a competitive rotation. The great individual highlight belonged to Alexander Nikolov, zone 4 of the Bulgarian team, who finished as the match's top scorer with 12 points, being the only athlete in double figures. His consistency on the side-out and his aggressive attack on the wings made him the offensive reference for a Lube team that, even in the context of preparation, showed quality in the first and second line.
The night was equally special for the youngest brother, Simeon Nikolov. The Bulgarian distributor was launched as a starter and produced a solid performance in leading the attack, closing the match with 1 point and, above all, with good distribution decisions that kept the opposing block in doubt. This is the first season in which the two brothers have played side by side at the same club, a detail that adds curiosity and potential to Lube's sporting project for the SuperLega.
On the other side of the net, Cisterna had merit in keeping the partials discussed until the final moments, but came up against the greater effectiveness of reception and definition of the home team, which knew how to manage short advantages with authority. For Medei, the test against an opponent from the top Italian division appears as a relevant step in building a competitive form, after meetings against opponents from A2.
With no official results at stake, the message is clear: Lube has the credentials to attack the SuperLega title that eluded them last season, now with the reinforcement of the talent and chemistry of Alexander and Simeon Nikolov. In the still embryonic phase of the pre-season, the 3-0 against Cisterna offers positive signs in the block-defense connection, in the service and in the variability of the attack — areas that, if this trend continues, could make Civitanova's team one of the natural candidates for the top of Italian volleyball.
What happens next
With this triumph, Lube should continue to develop its game dynamics before the start of the Italian Volleyball SuperLega. The team, under the guidance of Giampaolo Medei, is expected to face more opponents of higher caliber, which will allow them to assess their preparation. The expectation is that the Nikolov brothers will become key players in the quest for the title this season.
