The reconstruction of Heracles, with a new vision and a German touch

After a disastrous season that resulted in relegation from the Eredivisie, Heracles Almelo started a new season under the guidance of coach Vincent Heilmann. In the first training session, Heilmann immediately established his approach, addressing his vision for the team and the goal of returning to the top flight. "The dark clouds of degradation have begun to dissipate over the Asito Stadium. The last year, in which Heracles were relegated to the Keuken Kampioen Divisie, is still fresh, but it is time to change course," said Heilmann.

At just 29 years old, Heilmann was appointed as the new coach, replacing Bas Sibum, who was unable to avoid relegation. Now, under the supervision of technical director Ernest Faber, Heracles want to look forward. "The focus is to return to the highest level, finish in the top two and guarantee promotion," said the coach.

Thomas Bruns, one of the team's most experienced players, described last season as the most difficult of his career. "I had never experienced a descent and it was mentally exhausting. I had to find a way to deal with it and the vacation was welcome", revealed Bruns, who spent three weeks in Spain to relax.

During the first training, the intensity was high, even with temperatures around 30 degrees. Heilmann and his coaching team applied rigorous exercises, mixing running with ball exercises, to prepare the players for the new season. "Intensity is essential if we want to play at a high level. Preparation starts now," said Heilmann.

The coach, who has already played in the Bundesliga, emphasized the importance of being physically well. "When you get into the right rhythm, everything becomes easier. The first stage is always the most difficult, but the objective is to be in shape for the first game of the season against VVV-Venlo," he added.

Heilmann also shared his personal approach to leading the team, highlighting the importance of building strong relationships with players. "I want them to know my story and feel comfortable opening up to me. It's essential to know who is inside the locker room," he explained.

With a large number of new players joining the team, Heilmann recognized the challenge of establishing a strong group culture. "We need to focus on the group's culture before focusing on tactics. We are building something new and everyone has to be on the same page", concluded the coach. Heracles are now preparing for a new era, with hopes of a quick return to the Eredivisie.
