The final of the playoff for access to Series B remained open. Union Brescia and Ascoli drew 1-1 in the first duel, an atypical game at Rigamonti that started on Tuesday and only ended on Wednesday, after being suspended in the 61st minute due to a deluge that left the pitch unplayable. The final half hour, resumed the following day, did not change the outcome, with the goals coming in the first 12 minutes of the match.
The decision is therefore postponed until Sunday, June 7, at the Del Duca Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 6pm. By determination of the authorities, as in the first leg, the match will only take place with fans of the home team – in this case, Ascoli – with access to visiting fans prohibited in both games.
If equality persists at the end of the regular round time, there will be extra time and, if necessary, penalties to determine who advances to Serie B. It is worth remembering that Vicenza, Arezzo and Benevento have already guaranteed direct promotion as winners of the three groups of the regular phase.
Union Brescia and Ascoli, who both finished 2nd in the regular season, have confirmed their candidate status and are now preparing for the final exam of a season. The moment of truth is at the door.
