There is a cultural problem, which is reflected in the hiring of Allegri for Napoli: we always look at what happened in the past, while coaches like Italiano go to Besiktas, Farioli to Ajax, De Zerbi to Shakhtar, Maresca to Leicester, and Lisci to Osasuna. We have no hope for the young people: we are an aging country that thinks in an old-fashioned way after five World Cups - three away and two ridiculous ones - when will we change?"
Trevisani also expressed skepticism about the imminent appointment of Roberto Mancini as the new coach of the Italian national team: "Aesthetically, with him I saw perhaps the most beautiful Italy of all time, along with that of '90 with Vicini, but starting over with him is an acknowledgment that we don't understand what is happening in Italy, that is, that we need to sweep everything away and start again."
Regarding Mancini's first stint with the national team, Trevisani commented: "In 2021, I saw a beautiful Italy, capable of suffering when it couldn't play well. The coach demonstrated that he can do that, but in the three failures for the World Cup qualifiers, his was the most foolish, as we left with Macedonia after taking 30 shots to 1 and having dominated, unlike what happened with Sweden and Bosnia.
