Giovanni Simeone's future is once again intertwined with River Plate. The Argentine club does not hide its interest in the Torino striker, identified as one of the main targets to reinforce the attack next season. River Plate president Stefano Di Carlo confirmed in an interview that Cholito is part of the list of players monitored by the Buenos Aires club, along with Ángel Correa and Thiago Almada.
Torino, in turn, shows no willingness to part with their number nine. Urbano Cairo considers Simeone one of the pillars of the technical project and, at least at the moment, is not considering the possibility of leaving. To this end, according to Tuttosport, the Granata president established a very high valuation of the player: around 25 million euros, an amount that represents an important obstacle for any suitor and which is very far from River Plate's valuations, which value the striker at around 10 million euros.
Simeone, however, never hid his special bond with River Plate, the club where he grew up before moving to Europe. In recent months, the Argentine striker has repeatedly reiterated his desire to wear the Millonarios jersey again. This desire could be a factor to consider in the coming months, even if, at this moment, there are no signs of a break with Torino.
The Granata club's position is also reinforced by the player's contractual situation. Simeone is linked to Torino until June 2028, with a unilateral option in favor of the club to extend the contract until 2029. At this moment, Cairo remains optimistic about the Argentine's stay. However, River Plate has already spoken out and the feeling is that the attempt to bring Simeone back to Buenos Aires is just beginning.
