Venezia, recently promoted to Serie A, reached an agreement with Thierry Correia to sign him on a free transfer, after the end of his contract with Valencia, according to Sky Sport Italia. Gianluca Di Marzio confirms that the agreement was reached this Tuesday, contemplating a two-season contract, with the option of extending for another one.
Negotiations had been ongoing for several weeks, with the player in no rush to decide his future as his deal with the Spanish club neared its end on June 30. Correia thus reinforces Lagunari, champions of Serie B in 2023/24 and back in the top Italian division.
A native right-back, also capable of playing on the left side, the 27-year-old defender was signed by Valencia from Sporting CP in the summer of 2019 for 12 million euros. This season, he played 25 official games for Che, with two assists, but did not reach an agreement to renew.
In recent years, Correia has dealt with a number of physical issues, including a torn anterior cruciate ligament in October 2024, as well as three separate muscle injuries this season. Still, he remains a versatile option for Venezia's flanks in their return to Serie A campaign.
