On the sidelines of the Fip Silver Mediolanum Padel Cup, in Palermo, Stefano Fiore, former Lazio and Fiorentina midfielder, addressed the future of the Italian team, in statements reproduced by the LaLazioSiamoNoi portal.
"Whether it's Mancini, Conte or even Baldini himself, we're talking about coaches with great charisma. But we know well that it's not enough to have quality people; you have to sit at the table and change many things," said the former Italian international.
Fiore then explained what's at stake: "We've already seen that a good coach isn't enough if you don't intervene in the basic aspects. We may even be able to qualify for a World Cup, but that, in itself, won't make us return to being dominant or highly competitive as we always were. It's important to choose highly capable professionals, but there are many points to act on — and we hope it's on time and quickly, otherwise we run the risk of being left behind."
