Today is a sad day for U.C. Sampdoria and to the world of international sports medicine. Doctor Massimo Manara, blucerchiato health officer and respected professional in the field, passed away in his hometown, Parma, at the age of 63. «It is news that saddens us very much – said the CEO of the Football Area, Jesper Fredberg. – With the death of Doctor Manara, we lost a great professional and a person of high moral value, a figure who will not be easily replaced in the structure of our club. During these two seasons at Sampdoria, we appreciated his work, his competence and his humanity. That is why, from the bottom of our hearts, we remember him today, expressing our solidarity with his beloved son and his entire family.” Born in 1962, he graduated in Medicine and Surgery in Milan in 1989 and specialized in Sports Medicine in Bologna in 1996. Before arriving in Genoa in the spring of 2024, Dr. Manara worked as a social doctor for Parma, Milan, Spezia, Al Nasr and Rome, in addition to having been responsible for the health of the United Arab Emirates team. To the family, especially his son Federico, the club's most sincere condolences.
