Romano gives the deal closed: Konaté on his way to Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer

Real Madrid accelerated its operations in the market and, according to Fabrizio Romano, signed French central defender Ibrahima Konaté at zero cost for next season. The former RB Leipzig player is preparing to sign a four-year contract with the Merengues, as is full-back Denzel Dumfries, whose agreement was also considered closed by the same journalist.

According to the same information, Dumfries is expected to travel to Madrid for medical examinations, with both players expected at the club's training center in the coming days.

The two deals should only be made official after Real Madrid's presidential elections, in which Florentino Pérez will be opposed by Enrique Riquelme. Still, Pérez is considered the big favorite and will have already ratified the signings.

Konaté arrives to add depth to Real Madrid's defensive sector, increasing competition in the defensive axis, which includes Dean Huijsen, Antonio Rüdiger and Éder Militão.

As for Dumfries, the plan, according to reports, is to use him as the main option for left-back next season. The new coach, José Mourinho, will not be completely convinced with Álvaro Carreras, so the Dutchman could take over that role.

For Real Madrid, this is a double strategic operation completed before the official start of the season and with the aim of being announced before the World Cup, fulfilling a long-standing desire of the Madrid structure.
