Reports on Wednesday indicate that Tommaso Baldanzi is set to join Genoa permanently after spending the second half of the 2025-26 season on loan at Roma. Genoa are preparing to sign Baldanzi on loan, but with an obligation to buy from Roma. Baldanzi joined Genoa on loan with an option to buy during the January transfer window and despite making just eight appearances under Daniele De Rossi in the second half of the 2025-26 season, the Grifone have renegotiated with Roma and are on the verge of securing the 23-year-old on a permanent deal. According to reports from TMW, Baldanzi will rejoin Genoa on a new loan deal, but this time with an obligation to buy for a fee of €9.5 million. This value is slightly lower than what Genoa negotiated in the purchase option during the January transfer window. Reports on Wednesday claim that Baldanzi will sign a contract that will keep him at Genoa until the summer of 2030. Baldanzi was originally brought to Roma by Genoa manager De Rossi during the 2024 winter transfer window in a deal that was said to be worth €10 million plus bonuses.
