Enrique Riquelme, candidate for president of Real Madrid, named Jürgen Klopp as the ideal coach to lead the Merengues project and assured that he will immediately move forward to try to sign him if the Spanish club wins the elections.
"Klopp is the coach we want for this Real Madrid project. If we win the elections, on Monday we will contact Klopp directly", said Riquelme, in an official statement.
The candidate reinforced his arguments: "We are talking about one of the best coaches of our time. But, above all, we are talking about a leader capable of returning to Real Madrid the competitiveness, intensity, professionalism, unity in the locker room and dedication to the project that have always characterized the great seasons in our history. That coach is Klopp."
On the other side of the electoral race, his competitor, Florentino Pérez, is seen as inclined to choose José Mourinho for the position, if he wins the election.
Klopp finished his last experience at Liverpool, where he left last summer, and is currently working at the Red Bull Academy. Riquelme recognizes that the German “publicly admitted that he had no plans to return in the short term and rejected numerous proposals”, but maintains that “the challenge at Real Madrid is different: there are big clubs, but there is only one Real Madrid”.
