Florentino Pérez promised this week to attack a Galáctico reinforcement if he is re-elected president of Real Madrid at the weekend. The 79-year-old Merengue director also guaranteed that a proposal of 150 million euros would be presented by an unidentified player — an operation that, if completed, would establish a new transfer record for the club.
Faced with the insistence of journalists, Pérez publicly excluded several names, which led speculation to fall on Vitinha (PSG) or João Neves. However, contrary to what was supposed, the target is precisely one of the previously discarded players: according to Diario AS, it is Michael Olise, recently associated with Real Madrid in different reports.
The 24-year-old French winger is coming off a highly impactful season, racking up 22 goals and 26 assists in 52 games across all competitions. At the Bernabéu, Olise is seen by Pérez as the ideal profile to usher in a new era in attack.
The obstacle? Bayern Munich has reiterated in recent months that Olise is non-negotiable, regardless of price. Even a proposal in the order of €150 million, as promised by Pérez, will have a high probability of being promptly rejected by the German giant.
If Bayern formally rejects the investment, Real Madrid's strategy will be to use their interest in Olise to pressure the Bavarians into giving up on the player. It is not clear at this stage whether the French international will be willing to move to the Santiago Bernabéu this summer, but the Spanish club intends to do everything it can to convince him if there are any doubts.
