In an interview with El País, the 79-year-old Merengue president guaranteed that the Brazilian's renewal — with a contract until mid-2027 — is not blocked by financial issues. "There's still time. I'd like him to stay here his entire career. He gave us the last two Champions Leagues and he feels very connected to the club," he said.
Pérez also rejected the idea that Vinícius is demanding unusual amounts. "They say he asks for too much money, but it's not true. If you don't want to stay at Real Madrid and want to sign elsewhere, you're free to do so. I'm not going to force you into anything. Money has never been the most important thing", he highlighted.
The director also addressed rumors about an alleged disagreement between Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni during last season, stressing that he counts on both.
