Real Madrid does not rule out new extension for Rudiger after renewal

Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger has confirmed that he has reached an agreement on a new contract with the club, accepting a one-year extension. The agreement has now been completed and signed, although we may have to wait a little longer for the official announcement. Real Madrid is delaying confirmation of the contract solely for scheduling reasons, preferring to space out important announcements rather than releasing several pieces of news at the same time.

However, a recent report from AS confirms that the defender was initially hoping to secure a longer contract. During the negotiations, it was mentioned that the main issue revolved around the duration of the contract. Rudiger wanted a two-year contract. According to the publication, Rudiger would have preferred a two-year extension. However, the 33-year-old eventually accepted Real Madrid's long-standing policy of only offering annual renewals to players over the age of 30. The defender understood the club's position without creating obstacles, recognizing that the policy has been applied consistently over the years.

As a result, the new agreement will keep Rudiger at Real Madrid until the summer of 2027, when he will be 34 years old, marking his fifth season at the club since arriving from Chelsea in 2022. It is important to note that the one-year extension does not necessarily mean that the end is near. In fact, the report suggests that both parties are already open to reassessing the situation next summer, if the relationship continues to evolve positively. Instead of aggressively demanding a longer contract, Rudiger prioritized continuity and the opportunity to remain part of the Real Madrid project. The German international continues to be one of the squad's most influential leaders and plays a crucial role both on and off the pitch. This commitment is particularly significant given the interest he has reportedly received from Saudi Arabia in recent years. Financially, he could have secured a more lucrative contract elsewhere, but his focus remains on continuing his story at Madrid, despite the fact that Real Madrid will also sign Ibrahima Konate.
