Genoa will continue to count on Junior Messias. Football director Diego Lopez confirmed two days ago that the Brazilian will renew his contract with the club. The connection, which ended at the end of this month, is extended for another season, after the last details were finalized in recent days.
Genoa's number 10 is currently out of action due to an adductor injury, which forced him to end the season early. About two months ago, the player had already promised, on social media, to work to come back stronger next season.
Despite a season marked by physical problems — with a recurrence of muscle complaints throughout the championship — Messias responded whenever he was called upon, scoring important goals. Among them, the goal scored against Bologna stands out, in a turnaround from 0-2 to 3-2 that set the atmosphere in the stands on fire.
In total in 2023/24, he made 22 appearances between Serie A and Coppa Italia, with 3 goals and 1 assist. With the renewal assured, Messias seeks to fully recover and be an influential player in the next season for the Genoese emblem.
