Feyenoord is preparing to once again have Giovanni van Bronckhorst — the most decorated coach in the club's history. Under his guidance, the Rotterdammers lifted five trophies, an absolute record among the Rotterdam club's coaches.
With Van Bronckhorst on the bench, Feyenoord won the national title in 2017, a year after beating KNVB Beker. In 2018, he repeated his cup triumph. In this first cycle, he also added two Johan Cruijff Schaal (Netherlands Super Cup), in 2017 and 2018.
The former defender thus surpasses two references on the Feyenoord bench: Ernst Happel and Willem van Hanegem, both with three trophies while coaching the club. In the case of Austrian Happel, there is a relevant note: in his era there was no Super Cup (only established in 1991). Furthermore, two of his three achievements were international — the then European Cup I and the Intercontinental Cup, both in 1970.
This balance considers titles since the introduction of professional football in the Netherlands in the mid-1950s.
