Keely Hodgkinson set a personal best in the 400 meters when she completed the distance in 51.14 seconds on her debut in this Diamond League race in Rome. The Brit finished in 7th place, in a race won by Henriette Jaeger. Compatriot Amber Anning was 5th, with 50.19, at the Stadio Olimpico.

Hodgkinson, who is chasing Jarmila Kratochvílová's 800m outdoor world record this summer, showed progress in her 400m speed towards her main goal of the season.

In the pole vault, Molly Caudery secured the title with a season's best mark of 4.80 m. In the women's 1500 m race, Georgia Hunter Bell won in 3:58.63.

In the women's 200 m, Julien Alfred was the fastest; Amy Hunt finished in 4th place with 22.52, ahead of Dina Asher-Smith, 5th with 22.76.

Among the men, Noah Lyles won the 100m in 9.88, followed by Emmanuel Eseme and Letsile Tebogo, second and third respectively. Jeremiah Azu was 9th.
