The new Fiorentina, about to enter the Fabio Grosso era, is starting to take shape and can do so with targets well known to the coach. While waiting for the coach to become official, the Viola board is working on a squad that is more aligned with the ideas of the future commander.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the focus is on several Sassuolo players, especially those sectors that require profound restructuring. The hottest name is Kristian Thorstvedt, a 25-year-old Norwegian midfielder, seen by Grosso as a reliable element for his game model. Already observed by Fiorentina in previous windows, the international represents an ideal solution as an interior midfielder in a three-man midfield, combining physicality, arrival in the area and the ability to finish. In 2023/24, he closed Serie A with four goals.
Thorstvedt has a contract with Sassuolo until 2027 and his market valuation will be between 10 and 15 million euros.
Intervention in the market is not limited to the center of the land. With the non-exercise of the purchase options for Harrison and Solomon, Fiorentina will have to strengthen the attacking wings. In this context, two profiles particularly appeal to Grosso: Armand Laurienté and Cristian Volpato.
The Frenchman Laurienté appears as a ready solution for Serie A due to his speed, ability to balance and threat in the last few meters. Volpato would add technical quality, unpredictability and room for progression, whilst also knowing closely the principles of the game and the coach's demands.
