VfB Stuttgart have no doubt that Dennis Seimen will be the team's new number 1 option in goal. Seimen's return to Stuttgart was made official on Friday, following his farewell to SC Paderborn. "Dennis showed from a young age how ambitious and prepared he already is. He was a key player and we are very pleased with his development", said Sebastian Lange, director of the SCP, about the goalkeeper who, last season, played 34 league games, keeping the net nine times. With the departure of Alexander Nübel, Seimen will be VfB's new number 1. "Dennis had a fantastic season at Paderborn. He is not an experiment, we have full confidence in his ability to take on this role," added sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth to the German news agency. "We all share this opinion." However, the choice is not without risk. The 20-year-old spent ten years in the VfB academy but is yet to play in the top flight. Furthermore, they will have to assert themselves in the Champions League, competing at the highest international level. "Dennis is a young goalkeeper who loves competition and the challenge," Wohlgemuth said of the talent. To strengthen the goalkeeping team, 30-year-old Marius Funk arrives in Stuttgart on a free transfer from Energie Cottbus.
