In a recent post on the social network X, journalist Florian Plettenberg stated that Chelsea are in the race to sign AIK winger Zadok Yohanna. It was mentioned that the Blues would have to rival Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion in the fight to secure the Nigerian player's services in this summer transfer window.
The 18-year-old has enjoyed a good run of form at the Swedish club, putting in a series of impressive displays in the attacking zone. Yohanna deserves credit for scoring five goals and tallying four assists in 12 games for AIK last season in all competitions. The Nigerian talent is currently one of the most promising players in the striker position in Allsvenskan. So it's no surprise that the Blues are in contention to secure his signature this transfer window.
Yohanna's current contract at AIK expires in the summer of 2029, which could make it difficult for Chelsea to sign him at an affordable price this season. Yohanna is capable of making some vertical runs with the ball on the flanks, can shoot well from long distance and has the vision to make decisive passes in attack. The young talent also uses his strong 1.84m height to win some aerial duels.
However, he is still largely inexperienced at the highest level and would need time to prove his worth in the Premier League, should the Blues manage to sign him this summer. We can expect Yohanna to improve the quality of Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso's attack in the long term. He is already good enough to be a good rotation player for the West London club. At just 18 years old, Yohanna has a very promising future ahead of her, as long as she continues to evolve each season. He is, without a doubt, a player to take into account in the future. So Alonso would do well to try and lure him to Stamford Bridge during this summer transfer period. However, the Blues would have to be patient with his progress before they can get the best out of the talented winger.
