In the last few hours, Enrique Riquelme, candidate for president of Real Madrid, stated that he had completed the signing of Erling Haaland from Manchester City. According to reports, the Norwegian striker has a clause in his contract that would facilitate a move to the Bernabéu, something Riquelme intends to achieve if he wins Sunday's elections.

Riquelme stated that he will have already agreed personal terms with Haaland's team, which would allow the aforementioned clause to be activated as soon as he takes office. However, the player's agent quickly refuted these claims, speaking to Fabrizio Romano: "Riquelme's remarks are very amusing, but they are not true. We wish both candidates good luck in the Real Madrid elections."

The possibility of signing Haaland excites many Real Madrid members who go to the polls on Sunday. Riquelme's allegations may sway some, but the player's team's quick denial should also carry weight and could tip the votes back to Florentino Pérez, who has already secured the signings of Ibrahima Konaté and Denzel Dumfries.

It remains to be seen whether Riquelme's claims are true, but he may never have the opportunity to negotiate for Haaland if he is not elected president this weekend. Pérez is the big favorite to continue leading the club, although recent events could change the outlook.
