After the death of Eric Roy, Stade Brestois opted for an internal solution for technical management. According to Ouest-France, the Ligue 1 club have decided to promote Julien Lachuer, Roy's assistant for the last three and a half years, to the role of head coach.
Eric Roy died last week, aged 58. The family revealed that the coach had been fighting pancreatic cancer for three and a half years, information that remained hidden during his time at the helm of Brest.
Lachuer, a former Brest goalkeeper, already assumed significant responsibilities in the team's day-to-day operations, particularly in conducting training. The coach has the qualifications required to command the first team of a professional club.
According to the same source, the name of Christophe Pélissier, recently fired as coach of Auxerre, was also circulating as a hypothesis for the position.
Brest's pre-season is scheduled to begin on July 2, the date on which Lachuer is expected to formally begin his duties in charge of the team.
