AFC Wimbledon have formalized the signing of defender Steven Sessegnon, who signed a two-year contract after being released by Wigan Athletic. The 26-year-old, who has the versatility to play in a variety of positions, made 49 appearances for the Latics during his three-year stay but found himself limited to just 15 appearances in the 2025-2026 season. The defender, who is the twin brother of Fulham's Ryan Sessegnon, told the AFC Wimbledon website: "I thought it was the perfect opportunity to relaunch myself and show what I can do. It's a beautiful stadium to play in and I can't wait to be in there, with the stadium packed and the fans supporting." Sessegnon has had spells at clubs such as Fulham, Bristol City, Plymouth Argyle and Charlton Athletic. Dons manager Johnnie Jackson commented: "Steven is an experienced signing and has played for big clubs at this level and above. He comes to us with a drive to prove himself - he wants to get back to playing regularly. He brings good versatility; he can play on either flank, as a winger or as a full-back."
